Iceland 2023
Staff and students enjoyed a jam-packed trip to the wonderful country of Iceland. This once in a lifetime memorable experience started with touring the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik and visiting the Perlan Centre, City hall, Hallgrimskirkja church and much more, followed by a much needed rest at the Hotel Ork. All were up early on days 2 & 3 where the pace never slowed, visiting the Secret Lagoon, Thingvellir national park, Gullfloss waterfall, the Geysir centre, Kerio Crater, Seljalandsfoss waterfall, Skogar waterfall, Solheimajokull Glacier, Reynisfjara black sand beach and the Lava centre. A dark and clear evening meant only one thing; northern lights hunt. Students grabbed their cameras and set off to find the best photos of this amazing aurora, the anticipation and buzz around the group was incredible. The day had come where, Unfortunately the trip had to come to an end, but overall, a magical time had by the students and one they will never forget. Thank you, Iceland, Paignton Academy staff, students, and parents for this phenomenal experience.

Iceland 2023 encompassed all of these and more. The chance to experience and witness the trip through the eyes of 40 teenagers, is something that cannot be placed into words. The wonderment at the Northern Lights, a retreating glacier, snow on a volcanic beach. These experiences cannot be explained, they can only be felt.
It was an immense privilege to offer, organise and run this trip. Our students were impeccably behaved and conducted themselves in a mature and considerate manner, making the Academy so very proud of them.
