To help keep all pupils safe, please ensure the school has up-to-date information about any allergies your child may have. Accurate allergy information enables us to put appropriate support plans in place, train staff effectively, and respond quickly in an emergency. We all have a part to play in creating a safe environment, including following our nut-aware policy and being mindful of the food brought into school. If your child has an allergy, please contact the school or update their details via Arbor. Be Allergy Aware and Save A Life - see more here

Instrumental Lessons

At Paignton Academy we are delighted to offer a range of opportunities for students to learn musical instruments with expert teachers. We have a range of experienced peripatetic music teachers working with the Academy to deliver individual or group tuition on their specialist instruments.

Students can choose to learn an instrument 1:1 with a peripatetic music teacher or in small groups. Lessons last between 20-30 minutes and occur weekly. We aim to offer a rotating timetable where possible to ensure students are not regularly missing the same academically timetabled lessons.

Lesson costs are set by the peripatetic teacher and so vary per instrument, but as a guide, lessons start at £16 per 30-minute session. This can be adjusted to 20 minutes through discussion with the peripatetic music teacher.

We may be able to partially fund lessons for students who are Pupil Premium or receive free school meals.

Students are able to use the school’s instruments during their lessons if they do not have their own. The Devon Music Education Hub has a hiring service for students who would like to organise hiring instruments for home use.
