Handball & Tchoukball Festival Success!

March 6, 2026 12:32pm

Paignton Academy was proud to host an action‑packed Year 5 and 6 Handball & Tchoukball Festival last week, welcoming pupils from nine local primary schools for an afternoon full of energy, teamwork, and new skills. With almost 270 children taking part, it was one of our biggest and most vibrant festivals yet.

A fantastic team of 31 Year 7 and 8 Sports Leaders led the event, guiding pupils through a variety of fun, skill‑based challenges and game activities.

Their confidence, leadership, and teamwork shone throughout the afternoon. For many, it was their first time taking on the role — and they were outstanding.

Our Sports Leaders received specialist training from Mr Julyan, and their preparation was clear to see. They worked seamlessly together to ensure every child stayed active, engaged, and supported from start to finish.

The atmosphere was buzzing, with pupils throwing themselves into each activity and showing brilliant sportsmanship.

This festival is a wonderful reflection of our commitment to developing young leaders and providing inclusive, enjoyable sporting opportunities for all children in our community.

We’re already excited for this week, when we’ll be welcoming Year 3 and 4 pupils for another fun‑filled festival.
