Our Year 9 students enjoyed another inspiring Careers Day at our Waterleat Road site which was an important event as they prepare to make their GCSE option choices. The day was all about raising aspirations, broadening horizons and helping students see how their learning connects to real world career pathways.
A huge thank you to our fantastic guest speakers and partners who helped make the day such a success:
- Scarlett from South Devon College – Learning styles and apprenticeships
- South Devon College Uniform Public Services Team (including a former Paignton Academy student!) - for delivering energetic communication and team-building sessions
- Ewa Fojt and Peter Reeves (Next Steps South West), alongside higher education students from Exeter University, sharing insights into post 16 pathways, future planning and employer skills
- Catherine Bennett and Abigail Jackson from Knights Brown – Careers in Construction
- Jamie Richards and Tash Westlake from the Sports Team at South Devon College – Ambition and aspirations and post 16 options
- Teejay from Plymouth Marjon University and Paul from Plymouth University - University study and course options
It was another busy, motivating day full of learning, collaboration and future focused thinking. A brilliant experience for our students, and a great example of what strong employer engagement can achieve
