Torquay Academy 39 Paignton Academy 56
Paignton continued their preparations for the Nationals South West fixtures with an impressive victory, avenging their only loss to a Devon-based team from last year. The first half was close, with Torquay leading 28-27 thanks to 15 points from three-pointers. After a team talk, Paignton implemented a new defensive strategy, limiting Torquay to just 4 points in the third quarter.
All 10 squad players contributed to the team's performance. Jack excelled in a new role, achieving career highs in rebounds and scoring 10 points. Ethan showcased impressive hustle and rebounding techniques, while Ollie (13 points) and Sam (10 points) led in scoring. Lewis added the team’s only three-pointer.
Ultimately, the highlight was the teamwork and defensive effort, proving that while offense wins games, defense wins championships!
Well done everyone!
