Year 11 football team reach South Devon final

Shortly before the Easter break, the Year 11 football team brushed aside their semi-final opponents, Teign School, to reach the South Devon Cup final.  The team was determined to bounce back from their recent disappointing Devon Cup exit at the hands of last year’s finalists, Ivybridge Community College.

Despite piling on the pressure, it was half-way through the first half before Sam Waltham and Cameron Walker created space for Ryan McCaskill to drive the ball into the back of the net and put Paignton ahead.  As they came out for the second half, and with only one goal separating the two teams, Teign took possession forcing  Josh Organ to demonstrate his goalkeeping skills to keep Teign at bay.  Paignton went on to score a further 4 goals – Cameron Walker (2), Jamie Hooper (penalty) and Toby Nolan – taking Paignton to a decisive 5-0 victory after a superb second half.

The boys are finishing their Paignton Academy football careers in style, this being their fourth South Devon Cup final in the last five years! They now wait to find out who they will play in the final.

Well done to all boys involved!
