Year 11 Engineering

Our Year 11 Engineers have worked hard to complete their practical work over the year in order to finally meet the high expectations of the NCFE Level 2 in Engineering Studies. All our Level 2 Engineers completed a research module and have passed an examination testing their Computer Aided Design Skills at Pass, Merit or Distinction Levels.

Pictured is Marcus Coombes who is just one of our young Engineers to complete the course by selecting materials and using tools and equipment to engineer products. In order to produce the desktop lamp, a new product introduced this year, Marcus had to develop his skills in metal drilling, turning and milling, high temperature metal casting and electronic circuit soldering. The steel rose was fabricated using traditional cold and hot metal working techniques, with a hand turned and finished wooden vase.

Examples of work by Dejay Bolton, Oscar Williams and Blake Neal are also pictured.

Congratulations go to all of our Young Engineers, some of whom are going onto higher Engineering courses at South Devon College.
