Year 10s put on silky 7s showcase

On Monday the Year 10 rugby team took part in an all-day rugby 7s tournament at Forches Cross. Despite being entered into the top division, the team played some superb and, at times, thrilling rugby,  picking up convincing wins against both South Dartmoor and Brixham. The team only narrowly lost to Kingsbridge and Torquay Boys’ Grammar, the top 2 teams of the entire tournament. This meant overall the players came away with a very respectable and well-earned 3rd place!

All the players were a credit to the Academy but a special mention should go to Ben Heal as ‘top try scorer’, Alfie Akin-Smith for ‘try of the day’ and Kyle Bullock for ‘player of the day’.

The team now have fantastic momentum going into Wednesday’s crunch cup match against Teign. Well done to all the boys on a successful tournament!
