On April 16th and 23rd our Year 10 Engineers experienced a day at the Hi Tech Workshop at South Devon College.

The engineers spent time with the Level 2 Hi Tech students at the college, who demonstrated use of Horizontal and Vertical Milling Machines, Centre Lathes, 3D Printing and Computer Numerical Control Machining Centres.

Our engineers followed drawings to produce the component parts to make up a moving mechanism that they will complete and assemble here in the academy.

The day created awareness of the exciting and wide range of post 16 engineering options available. Also, the practical work completed on the day, along with the many photographs and video taken, are being used as valuable evidence towards our Engineers level 2 VCert Qualification.

Our Engineers next trip is to the Kingswear Marine Academy in May.

Well done to all of our Engineers who took part.
