Students Out and About for Successful Work Experience Placements

This year, 108 of our Year 11 students participated in the Academy’s Work Experience Programme. Students were at various locations across the UK from London to Cornwall and were involved in all sorts of placements from banking and administration to teaching and construction.

Work experience is an extremely effective tool in supporting students’ personal development. It provides an opportunity for students to undertake full time work, in an environment that differs significantly from that of school. The purpose of work experience is not necessarily for students to decide upon the career which they wish to pursue, but rather the emphasis is on working in the ‘real world’ and understanding how organisations operate as well as working with different people and having the opportunity to try something new and interesting.

The Academy would like to thank all the employers who participated in this year’s programme and say ‘well done’ to all the students and hope that they are now thinking more closely about their future plans.
