On Saturday, 22nd April, Alice Middleton has been chosen to represent the West Region for Rowing at the Annual Junior Inter-Regional Regatta (JIRR) in Nottingham.  To be chosen for this national event to represent the region is a great achievement.

Alice competed in the JIRR time trial in Totnes on the 4th February and was selected to represent the West Region in the women’s Junior 16 Eight event.

The Championships are contested between all 12 British Rowing Regions.  All events will be raced over 1500 meters with the heats timed.  The fastest 6 crews will go through to the A Final with the others into the B final.

Those in the A final will be competing for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, however, points will also be awarded to all competitor’s regions based on their finish position, and at the end of the event, the region with the most points will win the Victor Ludorum.

It will be the first race of the Regatta season for Alice who will then be going on to compete throughout the summer at the 10 local rowing events within the West of England circuit.  She will be defending her West of England Championship in the J16 single sculls as well as competing in various double and quadruple scull events.
