South Devon Athletics

Paignton Academy took some of their best athletes to Exeter Arena, to compete in a top quality event, which attracted top competitors from all schools in the area.

Amongst the events were: hurdles, sprints long distance, high jump, javelin, shot, long jump, triple jump, shot putt and relays.

The Key Stage 3 athletes from Paignton competed well in all of their events, with gold medal performances being achieved by Harry Smith in the shot putt and Olivia Hayes in the 100m.  Other notable performances were achieved by Henry Munyago, Freddie Hulance, Gemma O’Flaherty and Jack Dorothy.

The whole squad demonstrated the amazing talent that we have at the Academy.  They were a delight to be with, supporting each other in all of the events and also friends from other schools.  The atmosphere was superb at this well-organised event, where the best athletes in the region pitted themselves against each other.

Thanks to Mr Julyan, Miss Gibbs, Mr Clark and Mr Thieman for taking the team to Exeter.
