PCSA Welcome Curledge Street Academy for Science Week
On Wednesday 14th March PCSA Science staff, Mrs Hughes, Mr Jewell, Miss Edmonds, Mr Hughes, Mrs Newsam and Mr Jones used their free lesson to inspire 120 students from Curledge Street Academy as part of a collaboration between the two schools for British Science Week.
Curledge Street Academy students arrived at the Academy for a 30 minute session on various topics from their curriculum; this was an engaging morning for the students as many of them have never before been in a proper Science lab. Year 5 students had lessons on chemical changes by Mr Hughes and Mr Jones. Year 6 students had lessons on microscopes from Mrs Newsam and were burning foods with Miss Edmonds and Mr Jewell.
Students thoroughly enjoyed their morning at the Academy with some commenting “This is the best science we have ever done”. Mr Riden, Year 6 teacher and Science lead at Curledge Street Academy said “Students absolutely loved the morning and all the hard work to put it together was worth it.”
To help the staff for the morning we had 6 students from Year 7 to ensure the morning ran as smoothly as possible. Those students were Hayden Phipps, Aleshia Doolin, Malachi Kell, Lola Harrison, Aimee Waters and Alecia Metcalfe. They were an absolute credit to the year group and the Academy.
