Kobi is the ‘Mayne’ Man!
Kobi was in sparkling form for the Year 9 boys’ football team in their South Devon Cup 1st Round tie against St Cuthbert Mayne, scoring four goals to cap a fine team performance in an emphatic 8-2 victory.
Having taken most of the first half to blow away the cobwebs and get up to full speed in their first competitive match of the season, Paignton took an early lead but were quickly level pegging again as St Cuthbert Mayne equalised before half time.
However, an increased level of enthusiasm and confidence at the beginning of the second half resulted in an extended spell of Paignton dominance. Kobi (4 goals) and his impressive strike partner, Charlie (2 goals), took complete control of proceedings and a 10-minute goal rush, which also included strikes from Callum and an unfortunate Cuthbert own goal, saw Paignton storm into an unassailable 8-1 lead.
As the rain began to ease, the plucky visitors were finally rewarded with a fine consolation goal just before the final whistle but Paignton march on to the next round in fantastic form.
Well played boys!!
