The Academy welcomed 180 enthusiastic children from six local primary schools for a fun afternoon of ‘quicksticks’ hockey. The festival was part of the School Games Competition Pathway, with the top two schools being invited to the Level 2 tournament against the best teams from across Torbay.
The weather forecast had threatened a shower or two, but the afternoon stayed dry. Having said that, there was definitely lightning pace shown by the players; tidal waves of attack followed by attack and ‘goals galore’ as the shots rained in!
The Key Stage 3 sports leaders showed tremendous confidence as they coordinated and umpired all of the games. With eight games running simultaneously, the sports leaders put their training to good effect, ensuring that the children had a fun afternoon.
