Why study Health and Social Care?
Studying Health and Social Care is ideal for students who are interested in careers in environments, such as the NHS, Social Services, independent health and social care, voluntary and charitable sectors as well as early years’ settings. The subject provides a solid foundation of knowledge about how to care for service users in a number of settings.
Students will complete an exam unit that teaches about the rights individuals have and the values of care needed in settings. The students will also learn about relevant legislation and study the safety and security features different settings use. Coursework units to be studied include learning about effective communication, body systems and early years’ development and safety.
The students’ examination unit is worth 25% of their overall grade. The examination will last 60 minutes and there will be two opportunities to attempt this. Students will complete three coursework units worth 25% each and requires both written evidence and observation of practical skills.
