Hayes Travels at Incredible Speed

Year 10 Sprinting Superstar, Olivia Hayes, has continued her incredible progress on the track by smashing her personal best once again and completing a personal milestone in the process.

Shortly after returning from the summer break, Olivia competed in the South West Inter County Championships at Exeter Arena, her first time representing the Devon team, and won the 200m with an excellent time of 26.90 seconds. On the same day, she also achieved a strong silver medal in the 100m with an impressive time of 13.07 seconds.

As if this accomplishment wasn’t enough, Olivia followed this up by running an incredible sub 13 seconds in her next competition to set herself a new PB!

Less than a fortnight later, Olivia competed for Devon once again at an event in Oxford, where she placed 2nd in the 100m with ANOTHER PB run of 12.68, another superb achievement. Most impressively, Olivia was the only runner-up behind the UK’s Number 1 in her age group, meaning she is currently the second fastest girl of her age in the whole of the UK.

As a result of this, Olivia has now taken Torbay Athletics Club’s 2006 Club Record for the U15 Girls 100m.

Olivia continues to demonstrate exactly where hard work, resilience and determination can get a person, and the Academy is very much looking forward to seeing exactly what the future holds for this highly talented young lady!
