210 children from Years 5 & 6 arrived at the Sports Hub for a full afternoon of handball. Paignton Academy Sports Leaders from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 organised, coached, officiated and rewarded the children as they battled it out in a series of fast, fun but friendly games.
Making use of the ‘Futsal’ goals provided a goal fest, although there were great examples of top class goalkeeping as well.
Each school brought four teams, which enabled them to play lots of small-sided games against all of the other schools. A key element of playing handball is adhering to the principles of fair play. The children did this brilliantly and it was great to see their sportsmanship come through as every player shook hands with the opposition after every game.
