Year 9 Team Take Part in Design Ventura Challenge
Our Year 9 Product Design students have recently been taking part in the Design Ventura challenge run by the Design museum. It’s been an exciting six weeks where students have worked in teams to design a product that would ‘make life easier.’ This has included tasks such as researching, designing, modelling and enterprising. To be successful the students had to communicate and cooperate with each other in order to produce successful prototypes that answered the brief.
To complete the task all teams had to pitch their ideas to a panel, which meant standing up in front of Mr Smith, Mr Lewis, Mrs Bastyan and Mr Gillert to explain their ideas and answer any questions. The Dragon’s Den style event was a real success. From all the teams, ‘Merchanger’ was selected and sent to Design Ventura as the PCSA entry for this year and if selected the team will attend a Top Ten Pitching event to Designers and Makers at the Design Museum in London.
Well done Year 9 product design students and good luck to team ‘Merchanger’; Rhianna Gruit, Elise Pulham, Madison Harding, Hollie Mcleod and Cherie Desanta with your entry!
