Winners of the First World War Centenary Battlefield Tour

The History department launched a competition this term to take two Year 9 History students on a trip to tour the Battlefields in France and Belgium.
The department decided that the fairest way to choose students was to ask entrants to complete an informative display piece of work that raised awareness of World War One and showed their passion and dedication to the subject. Then six shortlisted students had to present their piece to members of the Senior Leadership Team.
The shortlisted six were Millie Curtis, Joshua Gigg, Amelia Williams, Maisie Moylan Jones, Sophie Jessop and Bethany Hitchen. The senior members of staff felt that the standard of work was amazing and showed off their knowledge and commitment to the subject making a decision extremely difficult. Eventually it was decided to award Sophie Jessop and Bethany Hitchen the opportunity to take part in the trip, with Amelia a well-deserved reserve.
