On the 8th July, the Academy saw eight students head to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, for the Wimbledon Championships.
After an early start and a good trip to London, they entered the Tennis Club by ‘Murray Mound’, or for older readers, ‘Henman Hill’!
With Tickets for Court 1, the students watched two brilliant matches, where there were wins for Milos Raonic and Caroline Wozniacki.
Most of the students learned lots of new rules and Bailey helped out by raising his juice, every time the umpire announce deuce…!
‘Three hat’ Marcus aka ‘Steefen’ and ‘Yoda’ Alex were a little let down by the lack of ‘grunting’ from some of the players, but were impressed with the standard of play and kept the bus entertained for the full nine and a half hours of travelling.
Birthday girl Lexie had the biggest badge we’d ever seen, which nearly caused the metal detector by the entrance to explode.
Jack made an extra effort by colour coordinating his hat with the grass, whilst Mia changed the colour of her knees part way through the day to a rosy pink!
‘Muscles’ Maisie has developed a plan to convince her family to take her next year and twenty questions Brooke learned the most, even though this was her second visit.
Thank you Miss Blagdon for organising such an amazing and memorable day.
