Successful Dance Festival at Princess Theatre

The Academy staged an inclusive dance festival at the Princess Theatre in Torquay.  The event was the first of its kind in the area, giving children and young people from PCSA and its cluster of primary schools the opportunity to perform in a professional venue in front of their peers, friends, family and a wider audience.

Seven schools took part, having choreographed and practised a dance piece, in response to a theme of ‘Countries and Cultures’.  PCSA took the opportunity for students to perform their exam piece and the primary schools brought a range of ages from Reception to Year 6.

Staff from the schools were also able to access training and support in the lead up to the event, which was provided by ‘Dance in Devon’.

The feedback was incredibly positive and all of the schools commented that they would like to do it all again next year!

“An amazing opportunity for the children to dance on stage and represent their school. The children had great fun preparing their dance and also watching the dances from other schools.” – Curledge Street

“A wonderfully, well organised experience for our children. A good time was had by all!” – Sacred Heart
