St Ives Trip for GCSE Art and Design Students
Year 10 and 11 GCSE Art and Design Students were lucky enough to take part in a trip to St. Ives organised by Head of Art, Ms Julian.
The students took a coach early and went for the day down to the creative Cornish town to experience The Tate of the West, an art gallery exhibiting works from modern British artists with links to the St Ives area such as Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth.
When they arrived they were able to take part in some guided tours around the gallery, ask questions, discuss the artworks and learn about the historical importance of St Ives to the British modern art story. They were also able to look around the town and use their free time to make some sketches and take photographs which they can now use as part of their GCSE course.
Ms Julian said;
“The Academy’s students were very well behaved and really made the most of the opportunity to learn first-hand about the artwork before them. The day was incredibly enjoyable and everyone came back from the trip enthused and able to draw on the experience in their future studies.”
