Inspiration from Paralympic Athlete
Double Paralympic athlete, David Hill, came to Paignton Community and Sports Academy for a full day of action with a number of students from the Academy.
David started the day at Kings Ash Academy, where he shared his story during a whole school assembly. He described his journey of successes, disappointments and perseverance during challenging times, which captured the imagination of the children endorsing the belief that anything is possible. Following the assembly, he worked with a small group, putting them through their paces. Such was David’s enthusiasm even Mr Carpenter couldn’t resist joining in!
The rest of the day was spent at PCSA, with two Year 9 groups, representatives from the Sports Council and finally a two hour session with the Academy’s Gifted and Talented students.
They took part in a series of challenges, teamwork activities, personal reflection, planning and even had the opportunity for personalised question and answer sessions with David.
The students couldn’t help but be inspired by David and we look forward to inviting him back in the near future.
